I know this is a little slow, but I was thinking about it the other day. The whole hubub about Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' pretty much mimicking Madonnas song, who cares?
Here's my views on why we should care less:
1) If Madonna doesn't care, why should we? Madonna has gone ahead and said she doesn't mind, and, in fact, she actually LIKES 'Born This Way'.
2) The whole point of 'Born This Way' (unless I'm completely off base) is that people should embrace who they are. Gay, straight, black, white, big, little, we're all 'superstars' in our own way. To be honest, with the amount of GARBAGE that comes from popstars these days (refer to any Jessica Mauboy songs, about her 'get em girls' and her 'Jimmy Choos'. We get it. You're rich. Who gives a shit?)
So, to hear a positive song about self-acceptance and treasuring what you have instead of trying to change it is so refreshing. I love it!
Whenever I hear this song, I actually feel better about myself, and think 'fuck 'em, it's my life, I'm brilliant the way I am!'. If this is the feeling even ONE other girl gets, then Lady Gaga has done more for the world than majority other musicians.
Maybe the critics should be looking at the worthless space-wasting songs rather than the songs that are uplifting. I know, I know, the issue is that it is plagirism and a breach of copyright, but, as I said before, considering the owner of the copyright, Madonna, doesn't care, why should anyone else? It's not YOUR money your wasting. Don't like the song? Don't listen to it? Duh.
3) It is so catchy. I love it. :)
